You Can't Stop the Stars! Hairspray Movie Premieres in L.A.
It was a star-packed afternoon in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Westwood as the world premiere of Hairspray swept the dazzling cast of the Adam Shankman film, along with a slew of Hollywood and Broadway celebrities, into the Mann Movie Theater on July 10. Based on the 2003 Tony Award-winning Best Musical (which soon celebrates its 5th anniversary on July 18) the film opens nationwide on July 20, and stars John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Queen Latifah, Amanda Bynes, Zac Efron, Allison Janney, James Marsden and in the role that won Marissa Jaret Winokur a Best Actress Tony, newcomer Nikki Blonsky as Tracy Turnblad.
